Isabelle’s recent graduate collection 'uprooted' features an interpretation of eco-fashion and the vivid, organic colours that are produced by natural flora, pastures, mountains and beaches that are found within the Australian landscape.
The collection features the natural colour developed from cabbage, turmeric, and beetroot dyes with fabric and embroidery manipulation to outline and illustrate the dips, twists and complexity that the Australian landscape forms. Her collection is aimed at engaging the audience to reconnect with the Australian landscape and to appreciate sustainable design to reduce chemical impact.
Isabelle grew up in country NSW and always knew she would be in a major city perusing her dream for Design. After she completed her High School Certificate in Sydney and earning a place on the honour roll for Textiles and Design, Isabelle moved interstate to Melbourne to complete her Bachelor of Textiles (Design) at RMIT.
Since starting her bachelors at RMIT, Isabelle discovered a love for digital illustration and commercial textile design but also natural dyeing and fabric manipulation processes. Working with fabrics and yarns allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of the connection between textiles and the body.
Through RMIT, she has had the opportunity to work with industry partners such as Signature Floors, Linen House, Ladelle Homewares, and POLITIX. From this Isabelle was fortunate enough to have sold one of her designs to the Menswear Brand POLITIX which will feature in their summer 2021 range.
Isabelle is a vibrant and social person and finds it important to produce work that brings not only herself but others, delight.
